Getting your artwork safely to you
Every piece I send out gets packed with actual care. No chucking things in a mailer and hoping for the best. Whether it’s an original painting, a print, or something smaller, the goal is simple: make sure it arrives looking exactly as good as when it left.
This page covers how delivery works, how long things usually take, how they’re packaged, and what happens if something gets damaged or goes missing.
The quick version
What slows things down?
- Original vs print vs commission
- Drying time on painted work
- Framing or mounting choices
- How far it’s going and courier schedules
Small but important bit
Delivery dates are estimates, not promises. I’ll get things out on my end promptly, but once the courier has it, timings can sometimes shift a bit.
What happens after you order
I want this whole process to feel straightforward and personal. No mystery, no awkward silences, and no wondering if your artwork has vanished into a black hole.
Order confirmed
Once your order or commission is confirmed, you’ll get all the details—what’s being made, what’s been agreed, and anything important that affects timing like size, medium, or whether framing’s happening.
Artwork gets ready
Prints go out fairly quickly once they’re ready. Original work and commissions might take a bit longer because they need finishing, drying time, sealing, mounting, or final checks before they’re safe to travel.
Packed and sent
Everything’s packaged to match what’s inside. Flat work gets backing and rigid protection where needed. Bigger pieces get wrapped with extra padding to keep them still during transit.
Rough delivery times
Usually fast
Ready-made prints ship within a few working days unless something else is mentioned in the listing or checkout.
Takes a bit longer
Original pieces need extra time for final varnishing, drying, protective packaging, or just getting them ready to travel safely.
It depends
Commission timelines vary based on what’s being created, how big it is, and how busy my schedule is. I’ll give you a clearer estimate when your commission’s confirmed.
Things that add a bit of time
- Oil paintings that need proper drying before packing
- Busy seasons like Christmas or special dates
- Custom framing, mounting, or special presentation work
- Courier hiccups from weather, strikes, or being overwhelmed
- Wrong or incomplete delivery details that need fixing
If you need something by a specific date, just ask before you order. I’ll be honest about whether it’s realistic.
It’s wrapped properly because it should be
Art is fragile. It deserves more than the bare minimum. Packaging gets chosen based on what the piece is, so it has the best chance of arriving in perfect condition.
Drawings and flat work
These get protective sleeves, backing boards, tissue, and rigid outer packaging where it makes sense—basically anything to prevent bending or surface damage.
Paintings and originals
Original work gets wrapped carefully with protective layers and extra support. Canvas or board pieces get extra protection around the corners and surfaces.
It should feel nice to open
Opening your parcel should feel special, not like you’ve just received a mass-produced package. Both safety and presentation matter, especially for gifts.
Delivery locations
UK delivery is standard. International options might be available for specific items—that’ll be clear on the listing or we’ll sort it before payment.
If you’re ordering internationally, you’re responsible for checking any customs charges, import duties, or local fees that might apply in your country.
Tracked and signed services
Higher-value work, originals, or anything that needs extra peace of mind usually gets tracked or signed for. The method depends on what’s being shipped, where it’s going, and what’s safest at the time.
You’ll get tracking details when your parcel ships, so you’ll know where it is.
Damage, delays, or missing parcels
Hopefully you’ll never need this section, but if something arrives damaged, goes missing, or doesn’t show up, get in touch as soon as you can so I can help properly.
Parcel arrived damaged?
Contact me within 48 hours and send clear photos of the artwork, the inside packaging, and the outer box. That gives me the best shot at sorting it quickly.
Parcel is delayed?
Short courier delays don’t always mean it’s lost. If tracking hasn’t moved for ages, message me and we’ll figure out what’s happening together.
Wrong address entered?
Double check delivery details before ordering. If the address you gave was wrong, I can’t take responsibility for delays or losses caused by that.
A few sensible things
Delivery costs, how long things take, and which countries I ship to can vary between originals, prints, and commissioned work.
Any specific delivery arrangements we’ve agreed on directly via email or message for a custom commission take priority.
If something can’t ship straight away because it needs drying or finishing time, I’ll tell you rather than rush it out half-ready.
I’d way rather your artwork arrives a bit late and in perfect condition than quickly and damaged.
Want a portrait that actually means something?
Whether it’s for yourself, for someone you love, or to rescue that photo from being forgotten in your camera roll, I’d love to help you make it real.
