How S2 Art Uses Artwork.

Your artwork matters to me. Here’s how I use finished pieces, what you’re allowed to do with commissions, and how I respect the creative work that goes into every portrait.

01

Commissions are yours

When you commission a portrait, you own the finished piece. You can display it, gift it, print copies for personal use, and share it with pride. It’s yours.

02

I use your work too

Finished commissions appear in my portfolio, social media, and marketing to showcase what I do. I’ll credit your name unless you ask for anonymity.

03

Respect the boundaries

Don’t resell, claim credit for the artwork, or use it commercially without talking to me first. These are basic protections for both artist and client.

1. Ownership & Rights

When you commission a portrait from S2 Art, you receive full ownership of the finished artwork. This means the physical painting, drawing, or print belongs to you entirely.

You have the right to display the artwork in your home, office, or anywhere you choose. You can gift it, sell it privately, or pass it down. It’s yours to do with as you please on a personal level.

2. Portfolio & Marketing Use

S2 Art retains the right to use finished commissions in my portfolio, website, social media, and marketing materials to showcase my work and attract future clients.

Credit & Attribution

Unless you request anonymity, your name or initials will be credited alongside the artwork. If you prefer your commission to remain private, let me know before completion and it won’t appear in any portfolio.

How your work appears

Your portrait may be featured on my website, Instagram, Pinterest, or in promotional materials. I won’t modify or alter the artwork—it will be shown as completed.

3. What You Can Do With Your Commission

You are free to:

  • Display the artwork in your home or business
  • Share photos of it on your personal social media
  • Print copies for personal, non-commercial use
  • Gift the original or prints to friends and family
  • Use it for personal enjoyment and memory-keeping
  • Sell the original physical artwork (privately, not commercially reproduced)

4. What You Cannot Do

Please do not:

  • Claim the artwork as your own creation
  • Resell prints or digital reproductions commercially
  • Use the artwork for commercial purposes without written agreement
  • Modify or alter the artwork significantly
  • Use it to promote competing services or products
  • Submit it to contests or exhibitions claiming you created it

5. Commercial & Licensing Inquiries

If you’re interested in using your commission artwork for commercial purposes—such as printed merchandise, business branding, or promotional campaigns—please reach out to discuss licensing options.

We can work out custom arrangements that respect both your needs and the value of the creative work involved.

6. Digital Files

Original digital files and high-resolution versions remain my property unless a specific digital license agreement is made at the time of commission.

If you need digital copies for printing or archival purposes, I can provide them for personal use. Let me know what you need.

7. Reference Images You Provide

Photos and reference materials you provide for your commission are used solely to create your artwork. I don’t use them for any other purpose and treat them as confidential.

8. Disputes & Questions

If there’s any confusion about what you can or can’t do with your commission, please ask. I’d rather clarify than have misunderstandings. Most things can be worked out with a conversation.

Contact me at commissions@s2portraitartist.com with any questions.

Bottom line

We both win when it’s fair.

These guidelines exist to protect both of us. You get to own and enjoy your artwork without worry. I get to showcase my work and build my business. Everyone’s happy.
